Text messaging
How a ticket buyer, a waitlisted fan, or a comic or producer opts in to texts from the venue, shown exactly as it appears on the site.
Ticket checkout
The buy box on a show page. The SMS checkbox sits above the buy button and is unchecked by default — a buyer has to actively check it to get a text:
The checkbox is optional — leaving it unchecked doesn't block checkout, it just means no confirmation text gets sent (the button below is enabled, exactly as it renders live):
Sold-out waitlist
The same buy box on a sold-out show. No ticket stepper — instead, the waitlist form with a second, separately unchecked box offering a text:
Checking that box is what reveals the phone number field:
The checkbox is optional — everything filled in, box left unchecked, and the form is still submittable (the button below is enabled, exactly as it renders live):
Comic & venue portal
In the portal's notification settings, a comic or producer types a mobile number. A checkbox below the field is unchecked by default and, like the checkout and waitlist boxes, doesn't block anything — “Send code” works whether or not it's checked:
By providing your phone number, you agree to receive SMS booking confirmations and reminders from Steel City Cellar. Message frequency may vary. Standard Message and Data Rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help. We will not sell or share mobile information with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes.
The number field is filled in, the consent box is left unchecked, and “Send code” is still enabled — proof the checkbox is optional, not a gate.
They enter the code we texted to confirm it's their number:
A verified number is the opt-in for automatic booking texts. Once it's verified, this is what they see:
Two more programs are opt-in extras, toggled separately in the same settings:
Message frequency, rates, and opting out
A ticket confirmation or a waitlist seat-opened alert is one text, sent once, tied to that order or that show. For comics and producers, frequency varies with how many shows they're on and which extra alerts they've turned on. Across every program combined, no one gets more than 30 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any of these texts to opt out of that program, or HELP for help. See Privacy and Terms for the full SMS / Text Messaging disclosure, including the data-sharing policy.
